Jacket Measurements
Suits, Blazers, Shirts, Vests & Coats
Desired Jacket (Garment) Length
Shoulder to Hem
- Stand straight in a natural posture with your arms relaxed at your sides.
- Start measuring from the top of your shoulder, right next to the base of your neck.
- Measure straight down along the front of your body to where you want the jacket to end.
- Keep the tape straight and do not curve it around the body.
Neck Circumference
- Stand straight and look forward in a relaxed position.
- Wrap the measuring tape around the base of your neck where a shirt collar would naturally sit.
- Keep the tape level all the way around.
- For comfort, leave space for one finger between the tape and your neck.
Shoulder Width
Across the Back
- Stand naturally with shoulders relaxed — do not pull them back.
- Measure from the edge of one shoulder to the edge of the other shoulder across your back.
- Follow the natural curve of the shoulders for an accurate measurement.
- Keep the tape flat and do not measure too high near the neck.
Desired Sleeve Length
- Stand straight with your arm relaxed in a natural posture.
- Start measuring from the edge of your shoulder where the sleeve seam would sit.
- Measure down your arm to where you want the sleeve to end.
- Keep the tape following the outside of the arm and avoid bending the elbow.
Chest Circumference
- Stand up straight with your arms relaxed at your sides.
- Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest, typically right under your armpits.
- Keep the tape parallel to the floor.
- The tape should be snug but not tight enough to restrict breathing.
Stomach Circumference
- Stand up straight with your arms relaxed at your sides.
- Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your stomach — usually above the waistband and around the belly button area.
- Keep the tape parallel to the floor.
- Hold snug but do not compress the skin.
Hip Circumference
- Stand with your feet together and your body relaxed.
- Wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of your hips and seat.
- Keep the tape level and parallel to the floor all the way around.
- The tape should be snug, allowing room for one finger for comfort.
Wrist Circumference
- Relax your arm and keep your hand in a natural position.
- Wrap the measuring tape around your wrist bone — where a watch would sit.
- Keep the tape snug but not tight.
- Leave room for one finger between the tape and your wrist for comfort.
Trouser Measurements
Trousers, Dress Pants & Shorts
Trouser Length
Waistband to Hem
- Stand straight wearing a well-fitting trouser or in a natural posture.
- Start from the top of your waistband where you normally wear your trousers.
- Measure down the outside of your leg to your desired trouser hem length.
- Keep the tape straight and do not measure diagonally.
Trouser Waist
Where Your Trousers Sit
- Identify the exact position where you normally wear your trouser waistband — typically just below your navel.
- Measure around your bare waist at this exact point, keeping the tape level and parallel to the floor.
- Stand in a relaxed, natural posture. Do not suck in or push out your stomach.
- The tape should be snug but not tight — you should be able to place one finger between the tape and your body.
Hip Circumference
- Stand with your feet together and your body relaxed.
- Wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of your hips and seat.
- Keep the tape level and parallel to the floor all the way around.
- The tape should be snug, allowing room for one finger for comfort.
Thigh Circumference
- Stand with your feet slightly apart and your weight evenly balanced.
- Start at the top of your inseam, near the crotch area.
- Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your thigh.
- Keep the tape snug with room for one finger to avoid measuring too tight.
Trouser Leg Opening
Hem Width

- Lay a well-fitting pair of trousers flat on a table or smooth surface.
- Smooth out the fabric so there are no wrinkles at the hem.
- Measure straight across the bottom hem from one edge to the other (flat width).
- Do not measure around the full opening — this measurement is taken flat across.
Rise
Crotch to Crotch
- Stand straight in a relaxed posture.
- Start measuring from the back waistband where you normally wear your trousers.
- Bring the tape between your legs and up to the front waistband.
- Keep the tape close to the body for an accurate rise measurement, without pulling it too tight.

Description
Series 10 – The Rarest Variant – Customer Sent Pictures of the final Coat
The 12th Doctor Grey Linen Frock Coat Defined
Most 12th Doctor coats are easy to find. This one is not. The grey distressed slub linen frock coat made its entrance mid-Series 10 and, in a wardrobe, full of iconic navy wool and velvet, it became the coat Whovians talk about most. Now custom-made to your exact measurements, with a free test coat before a single thread of linen is cut.
Screen Accuracy
Screen-Accurate Construction Details
Every visible detail of the on-screen coat has been studied frame by frame and reproduced faithfully. The grey distressed linen frock coat is the rarest and most distinctive garment in Peter Capaldi’s entire wardrobe as the Twelfth Doctor. Introduced mid-Series 10 by costume designer Hayley Nebauer, it replaced the navy Crombie and black velvet frock coat as the Doctor’s primary outerwear, a deliberate shift toward a lighter, more timeworn silhouette that mirrored his evolving character in his final season.
Unlike the structured Crombie coats of Series 8 and 9, this is a single-breasted frock coat cut in 100% linen. A fabric chosen to appear naturally distressed and lived-in, as though it had seen centuries of travel.
| Silhouette | Single-breasted frock coat, ¾ length |
| Lapel | Wide notch lapel, screen-accurate proportions |
| Front closure | 3-button with gold dome buttons |
| Back detail | Decorative gold buttons flanking pleated back skirt |
| Back skirt | Deep pleated panels; the coat’s signature detail |
| Vent | No center vent; clean kick pleat back per screen |
| Sleeve cuff | Gold button trim, matching front |
| Fabric | 100% linen in grey |
| Lining | Electric blue (screen-accurate) or custom color |
| Fit | Custom to your measurements |
The Fabric
Why Linen and Why It Matters for This Coat
Natural Drape
Breathable
Distressed Texture
Warm-Weather Wearable
Every other 12th Doctor coat replica on the market is made in wool or velvet. The Series 10 linen coat is different and the fabric choice is not incidental, it is what gives the coat its character. Linen has a natural, lived-in texture that costume designer Hayley Nebauer exploited deliberately the fabric looks as though it carries the weight of centuries, which is precisely correct for a Time Lord in his final series.
It breathes better than wool, drapes with a distinctive looseness, and softens further with every wear. For convention wear this is a practical advantage: linen stays cool under convention center lighting and heat, where wool overcoats become uncomfortable within the hour.
Occasions
When You Wear This Coat
This is the coat for Whovians who want something more than a convention piece. Because the grey slub linen frock coat is the least costume-looking of all 12th Doctor variants. It reads as a masterfully eccentric tailored coat, not fancy dress that crosses into daily wear with ease.
The convention floor
While other cosplayers arrive in the blue Crombie, you arrive in the Series 10 variant almost nobody else has. Instant recognition from serious Whovians. You become the one they photograph.
Everyday outerwear
Linen’s natural drape and the frock coat silhouette make this genuinely wearable to the theatre, a gallery opening, or a creative office. Eccentric but real tailoring.
Warm-weather events
Slub linen breathes. Unlike the wool Crombie, this coat suits summer conventions, outdoor events, and warmer climates without sacrificing the sweep of the silhouette.
The complete Series 10 build
Pair with dark trousers, a white granddad-collar shirt, and black boots for a screen-accurate Series 10 look. The coat is the centerpiece the rest of the costume revolves around.

Made to Measure
Custom to Your Measurements
Baron Boutique’s version is hand-tailored entirely to your measurements and not adjusted from a standard size, but built from scratch to fit only you. Every coat begins with your individual measurements: chest, waist, hips, shoulder width, sleeve length, and coat length. The pattern is drawn for your body, not graded from a generic block.
This means the dramatic pleated back skirt falls correctly for your height, the wide notch lapels sit flat against your chest, and the ¾ length hits exactly where it should. No off-the-rack coat, replica or otherwise, can achieve this.

Questions & Answers
Frequently Asked Questions
The grey distressed linen frock coat was introduced mid-Series 10 (2017), Peter Capaldi’s final season as the 12th Doctor. Costume designer Hayley Nebauer introduced it as a departure from the structured Crombie coats of Series 8 and 9. It is lighter in weight and more worn in character, suited to the Doctor’s final arc.
Yes. The grey slub linen frock coat is the least-replicated of all 12th Doctor variants. The navy Crombie and velvet coats are widely available from various suppliers. A screen-accurate replica of the Series 10 grey linen coat is extremely rare which is why we made one.
The on-screen coat features an electric blue lining, consistent with Capaldi’s Series 10 coat palette. We offer this as the default lining for screen accuracy, but you can request any lining color at no additional charge.
The back features two decorative gold dome buttons positioned above the pleated back skirt panels. A distinctive construction detail that anchors the dramatic pleated silhouette and is one of the coat’s most recognizable screen-accurate features.
Absolutely. Because the grey linen frock coat reads as a distinctive tailored coat rather than an obvious costume piece, it is well suited to everyday wear particularly in creative environments, at cultural events, or as a statement overcoat in warmer weather. Linen’s breathability makes it comfortable in temperatures where wool coats would be impractical.
The test coat takes 16-18 business days to arrive. After you approve the fit, the final linen coat takes a further 18-21 business days. Total time from order to final coat is typically 6-8 weeks. If you have a convention or event deadline, contact us and we will do our best to accommodate it.
No. The test coat is yours to keep at no extra charge. We retain a copy of the pattern. You do not need to return it under any circumstances.
Yes. Because every coat is built entirely to your measurements, there is no separate women’s version required. The pattern is constructed to fit your body regardless of gender. Simply submit your measurements and we will tailor accordingly.
