Your shawl is not taken from stock. A weaver in our Kathmandu workshop makes it on a wooden handloom, which takes about five days for one piece. Care
Caring for a Deep Green Cashmere Shawl
Hand wash it in cold or lukewarm water with a mild detergent or wool wash. Soak for 8 to 12 minutes, press the water through gently without wringing, rinse in cool water and lay it flat on a towel to dry. A steamer or a low iron takes out creases.
Two habits keep a deep color deep. Wash it on its own the first time, because any strongly dyed fiber can release a little color in its first wash. And keep it out of direct sun when drying and storing, since strong sunlight fades dyed fiber over time. Between wears hang it somewhere airy, and store it clean and folded with cedar or lavender.
If a thread catches on a ring or a clasp, ease it back into the weave from the other side with a blunt needle. Never cut it.
