All you need is a flexible measuring tape, a mirror, and ideally a friend to help with the shoulder and back measurements. How tight should the measuring tape be?

Why Velvet Pants Bag at the Knee, and How We Stop It
Velvet is a woven cloth with a short, dense pile standing up from its surface. Where the trouser pulls tight, usually across the knees, thighs and seat, the pile is pressed flat and the cloth stretches a little each time you sit. Over a day, that shows as a bag at the knee and shiny patches where the light catches the flattened pile.

We cut the thigh, knee and calf to your own measurements, with just enough ease to sit and walk without the velvet being pulled tight.
A slight stretch
The velvet has a little stretch, so it moves with you and recovers, instead of holding the shape of your knee.
Lined to the knee

- Wash inside out, cold, on a gentle cycle, and hang to dry; or dry clean if you prefer.
- Never iron the velvet face. Steam from a short distance instead: it lifts the pile and removes crush marks from sitting.
- Brush lightly with a soft brush in the direction of the pile after wearing.
- Hang the trousers by the hem or waistband rather than folding them, so no crease is pressed into the pile.
