Most velvet dinner jackets fail because they were made for someone else’s body. The pile catches every misfit – a pulling chest, a drooping shoulder, a sleeve that’s a half-inch too long. Baron builds yours to your exact measurements in premium velvet with a canvas front, fabric-covered buttons, and hand-finished buttonholes. 11 velvet colors. Your order includes a free test jacket shipped to you first so the fit is confirmed before we cut the velvet. From $519.
Follow these simple steps to ensure your custom garment fits you perfectly. All you need is a flexible measuring tape.
You do not have to get this perfect. Send us your best measurements and we craft a free test garment to your numbers first, so the fit is confirmed on your body before we cut your final cloth. Every piece is custom made to your measurements, and the test garment is yours to keep.

Before You Order
Your questions, answered
Ordering a garment made to your measurements should feel reassuring, not nerve-racking. Here are the doubts men most often have, and exactly why you can set them aside.
I have never bought a suit I could not try on in a shop first. How do I know it will fit?
Because you do try it on first. Once you send your measurements, we make a free test garment in a stand-in cloth cut to your numbers and post it to you. You put it on at home, check the shoulders, chest, waist, and length, move around in it, and send us your notes and a couple of photos. Only once you are happy do we cut your final cloth, so the finished suit is not a leap of faith, it is a fit you have already seen and approved on your own body.
I am worried I will measure myself wrong.
You do not have to get it perfect. The videos and steps above walk you through each measurement one at a time, a friend or a local tailor can help with the ones that are easier with a second pair of hands, and if you are unsure you can send your best numbers. The free test garment exists precisely to catch anything slightly off, we see the fit on your body and adjust before your final cloth is touched, so a first-try measurement is completely normal.
I have always struggled to find clothes that fit me. Broad shoulders, an athletic build, a longer or shorter torso, or a fuller waist. Is this really for someone like me?
It is made for exactly you. The men who fight hardest with off-the-rack are the ones who benefit most here, because there is no standard size to squeeze into. We cut to your proportions, broad shoulders with a trimmer waist, a fuller stomach with a shorter jacket length, a long or short back, so the garment follows your body instead of forcing your body into a shape it is not. There is nothing wrong with your build; there are only your measurements.
My body is not symmetrical, one shoulder sits lower or my posture is not textbook. Can you cut for that?
Yes. A garment made to your measurements is built for real bodies, not idealized ones. Note anything particular in your order, or simply show us on the test garment, and we adjust the cut, a lower shoulder, a fuller seat, a forward stance, and confirm it before the final cloth is cut. This is exactly what the process does that a size on a rack never can.
It is a lot to spend on something custom made. What is my safety net?
Your safety net is that nothing final, and nothing costly, is cut until you have approved the fit on the free test garment. You are not paying for a gamble, you are paying for a garment whose fit you have already confirmed on your own body. And a well-made piece that actually fits gets worn for years, so the cost per wear is usually far lower than the compromise suits and jackets that sit unworn in the wardrobe.
I need this for a wedding or a specific event and I am anxious it will not be right on the day.
Tell us the date when you order and we plan the whole timeline back from it, including the free test-garment stage, so there is time to confirm the fit and make any adjustments with room to spare. For a dated event we recommend ordering two to three months ahead. Because you approve the fit on the test garment before the final piece is cut, you are not walking into your event hoping it fits, you already know it does.
What if it arrives and something is still not quite right?
The final garment is cut to the exact fit you signed off on the test garment, so surprises are rare by design. If a small tweak is ever needed, your finished piece carries seam allowances so a local tailor can fine-tune it, and you can always contact us and we will help make it right. You are never left alone with something that does not work.
What if my weight changes before the event, or later on?
Take your measurements as close to the date as you can, and if your size shifts before we cut the final cloth we simply work to your new numbers. For afterwards, your finished garment is made with seam allowances so a local tailor can take it in or let it out within reason, and we keep your measurements on record, so ordering another piece that fits is simple whenever you want one.
Do I really need someone to help me, or can I do this alone?
You can absolutely do it alone. Most measurements are straightforward to take on yourself with the videos above, and only a few, like across the back and shoulders, are simply easier with a friend holding the tape. Either way, the free test garment is the real check: whatever you measure, you confirm the fit on your body before anything final is made.

A blue velvet dinner jacket is the most decisive thing a man can wear to an evening event. Not the safest – that would be a plain black tuxedo. But the most decisive. The rich pile catches light differently than any other fabric. The color reads warmer than black and more interesting than navy in a standard wool. It is the jacket that gets noticed and the one that gets remembered. The only question is whether it fits. Baron builds yours to your exact measurements, with a canvas front, before a single stitch goes into your final velvet.
Premium Poly-Cotton Velvet 11 Velvet Colors Canvas Front Construction Made to Your Measurements Free Test Jacket First Hand-Finished Buttonholes
The blue velvet dinner jacket has a long history on the men who understand that formal dressing should do more than meet a dress code. It should say something. Charlie Hunnam wore a Brioni electric blue velvet jacket at the Actor Awards and stood out immediately in a room full of black tuxedos. Ryan Reynolds went midnight blue velvet at the Met Gala. John Legend wore a full dark blue velvet ensemble that made People Magazine’s best dressed list. The pattern holds: when you want to be remembered, not just well-dressed, this is the jacket.
The Velvet – What Makes It Work for Evening
Velvet’s defining quality is the way it interacts with light. The pile – the raised, cut fibers that create the fabric’s surface – absorbs direct light and reflects ambient light in a way that makes color appear deeper and richer than in any flat-woven fabric. Under the low, warm lighting of a dinner party or a ballroom, a blue velvet jacket looks extraordinary in a way a standard wool jacket simply cannot.
Our velvet is a poly-cotton blend – a practical choice for a dinner jacket that will be worn at events, transported, and dry-cleaned. It holds its pile well, presses cleanly, and resists the matting and crushing that happens to poorer velvet blends with wear.
Available in 11 colors: Blue, Navy, Black, Burgundy, Wine, Red, Green, Light Green, Lavender, Maroon, and Black Crushed Velvet. All at the same price. Blue is the most popular color we make.

Who This Jacket Is For
A blue velvet dinner jacket is not an everyday garment and it does not try to be. It is built for the evenings when you want to be the person in the room who dressed with intent – not costume, not trend, not uniform. Intent.
The Holiday Season Dresser
Christmas parties, New Year’s dinners, company events where a plain dark suit feels like giving up. Velvet reads festive without reading costume. Blue reads confident without reading try-hard. This is the jacket for that moment.
The Groom or Wedding Guest
Blue velvet photographs beautifully under both natural and venue lighting. The pile creates depth in images that flat fabrics cannot match. If you want to look extraordinary in the photos, this is the deliberate choice.
The Cocktail Party Regular
You attend events often enough to know that wearing the same dark blazer every time is a slow erosion of presence. This jacket reserves its impact for the right occasions and delivers every time you reach for it.
The Man Who Prefers Custom
You know that a velvet jacket off the rack in your size will not fit the way a velvet jacket should. The fabric is unforgiving of a bad shoulder seam or a chest that pulls. You want it made to your body from the start.

Free Test Jacket – Why It Matters More for Velvet
Velvet is less forgiving than most fabrics. A shoulder seam that sits wrong, a chest that pulls slightly across the button – these flaws are more visible in velvet than in wool because the pile’s light-catching quality draws attention to every line and every imperfection. This is why we will not cut your velvet until the fit is confirmed.
Every Baron order begins with a complete test jacket in an inexpensive fabric, shipped to you by trackable courier. You try it on at home. You tell us what needs adjusting. We update the pattern and then build your final jacket in the velvet you chose. The test jacket is yours to keep. This is the only honest guarantee we can make to a customer ordering from the other side of the world.

Frequently Asked Questions
What occasions is a blue velvet dinner jacket appropriate for?
A blue velvet dinner jacket is built for evenings – holiday parties, Christmas and New Year’s dinners, cocktail events, black-tie or black-tie-optional events, weddings as a groom or wedding party member, and any formal dinner where you want to wear something more interesting than a standard black tuxedo. It is not a daytime garment and it is not a casual jacket. When the occasion calls for it, nothing else makes the same statement.
What is the difference between blue and navy velvet for a dinner jacket?
Blue velvet is a brighter, mid-tone blue that photographs with more saturation and reads as a deliberate color choice from across a room. Navy velvet is darker and closer to the depth of a standard navy suit – more conservative, still luxurious, and more versatile across different event types. Both are available at the same price. Blue tends to make a stronger statement; navy tends to work across a broader range of occasions. If you want to be noticed, blue. If you want to be polished across more settings, navy.
What do I wear with a blue velvet dinner jacket?
The cleanest option is black tailored trousers or a black tuxedo pant – the contrast between the rich blue and the black reads well under evening lighting. A white dress shirt or a black shirt both work, depending on how much contrast you want. Keep everything else simple: the jacket is the statement, so accessories should support rather than compete. Avoid anything too casual – the velvet elevates, so give the rest of the outfit a chance to keep up.
Why do celebrities wear blue velvet jackets on the red carpet?
Because it photographs differently from any other fabric at that formality level. At events like the Actor Awards and the Met Gala, blue velvet stands out in a room full of black tuxedos without looking like a costume. Charlie Hunnam wore a Brioni electric blue velvet jacket at the Actor Awards. Ryan Reynolds wore midnight blue velvet at the Met Gala. John Legend wore a full blue velvet ensemble. The common logic: velvet’s pile catches stage and flash lighting in a way that makes the color look richer on camera than it does on the rack.
How does the free test jacket work?
When you place your order, you enter your measurements on this product page. We build a complete test jacket in an inexpensive fabric and ship it to you by trackable courier. You try it on at home, check the chest, shoulders, waist, and sleeve length, and tell us anything that needs adjusting. We update your pattern and then cut your final jacket in the velvet you chose. The test jacket is yours to keep at no extra charge. This is how we guarantee fit for customers ordering worldwide.
What velvet colors are available?
Eleven colors: Blue, Navy, Black, Burgundy, Wine, Red, Green, Light Green, Lavender, Maroon, and Black Crushed Velvet. All are the same price. Blue and Navy are the most popular for evening events. Burgundy and Wine work particularly well for the holiday season. Red and Green are bolder choices that work best at events with a festive or creative dress code.
Can I choose the fit – slim, regular, or more relaxed?
Yes. Because every jacket is made to your measurements, the silhouette is yours to define. For a velvet dinner jacket, most customers choose a slim to contemporary cut – velvet reads best when the jacket follows your body rather than hanging away from it. A jacket that is too big in velvet will look heavy rather than luxurious. Add your silhouette preference in the order notes and we confirm before production.
Can I order matching velvet trousers to complete the look?
Yes – we offer velvet trousers separately. If you want a matching full velvet suit, message us before ordering and we can confirm the fabric availability for both pieces in your chosen color. Most customers pair the blue velvet jacket with black tailored trousers rather than matching velvet, but both options are available.
How long does the whole process take?
Plan on 6 to 8 weeks from order to finished jacket in your hands. The test jacket takes 2 to 3 weeks to build and ship. Once you confirm the fit, the final jacket takes 4 to 6 weeks in production. If you have a fixed date – a wedding, a holiday event, a gala – tell us when you order and we will confirm whether we can meet your deadline.

Delighted with garment and serviceI can’t emphasize enough how pleased I am with the garment and especially the service I received from Baron Boutique. Any query was attended to immediately and nothing was too much trouble.
Black is the hardest color to wear in a suit that does not fit. There are no patterns, no texture, no detail to draw the eye away from a pulling chest or a sleeve that is half an inch too long. It all reads directly against the plain surface. This suit is built to your measurements in Super 130s worsted wool on a canvas front construction. We send you a free test suit before we cut the final cloth.

The problem with a linen wedding suit off the rack is that linen without a proper fit looks underdressed, not relaxed. The wrinkles are visible from across the aisle when the suit wasn’t cut for your body — and unlike wool, linen has no structure to hide an imprecise fit. Blazer Fit Guide
Blazer Fit Guide
The fit of your custom blazer defines its look and comfort. Your test garment will reflect the room and structure you choose here. Use this guide to select the fit that best matches your body type and style preference.
Slim Fit
Modern and tapered for a close-to-the-body silhouette.
Best for: A lean build and those who prefer a sharp, modern look that closely follows the body’s lines.
Standard Fit
A timeless, comfortable fit with moderate room for movement.
Best for: An average build or for a classic, all-purpose business style. This is our most popular, versatile choice.
Relaxed Fit
Our most generous fit, with extra room throughout the chest and waist for maximum comfort.
Best for: Those who prioritize comfort over a tapered look, or for body types that require more room in the midsection.
Athletic Fit
Specifically designed for a V-shaped torso.
Best for: Broader shoulders and a larger chest, combined with a distinctly narrower waist. This cut prevents the jacket from being too tight in the shoulders or too loose at the waist.
Men’s Blazer Fit Guide
How a Men’s Blazer Should Fit
A blazer is the piece that does the most work in a wardrobe. It dresses up jeans, sharpens chinos, and carries a shirt through anything short of black tie. That is exactly why the fit has to be right: a blazer that sits well becomes the jacket you reach for without thinking, and one that does not just hangs in the closet. Made to your measurements, the fit is not left to chance. You choose the cut, we shape it to your body, and a free test garment confirms it on you before your final cloth is cut.
This is a piece to own for years, not for one night. Cut to your shoulders and chest and built to last, a good blazer only gets more useful with time. This guide covers the four fits we offer and the points to check so yours sits exactly right.
Step One
Choose your fit
Slim
Trim through the chest and waist with a shorter, sharper line. Best over a shirt or fine knit for a clean, modern look with less layering room.
Standard
Shaped but easy, with enough room to layer a shirt or light knit comfortably. The most versatile fit and the one that flatters the widest range of builds.
Relaxed
A softer, roomier line with a longer, easy drape. Ideal if you carry a broader frame, like to layer over knitwear, or prefer an unstructured feel.
Athletic
Cut for a built frame, with extra room through the chest and shoulders and a trimmer waist, so a muscular or V-shaped build sits clean with no pulling across the back.
Step Two
The fit checkpoints
Shoulders
The seam ends right at the edge of your shoulder, flat and clean, with no divot below it and no overhang past it. Get the shoulder right and everything below falls into place.
Chest & lapel
The lapels lie flat against your chest with no gap and no bowing, and the jacket closes without strain at the button. This is where a blazer looks either effortless or forced.
Waist & length
A gentle shape through the waist keeps it from looking boxy, and the hem falls around the middle of your hand, long enough to cover the seat, short enough to keep the line clean.
Sleeve
The sleeve ends at the wrist bone with a little shirt cuff showing, so the jacket reads as tailored rather than borrowed. You tell us your preference and we set it to you.
Every blazer is made to your measurements with no standard sizing, in the fit you choose. A free test garment confirms the shoulders, chest, waist, and length on your body before your final cloth is cut, and it is yours to keep.
Your Worries, Answered
The doubts most men have, and why you can relax
I have never bought a blazer I could not try on first. How do I know it will fit?
Because you do try it on first. After you send your measurements, we make a free test garment in a stand-in cloth to those numbers and post it to you. You put it on at home, check the shoulders, chest, and length, and send us your notes and a couple of photos. Only once you are happy do we cut your final cloth, so the finished blazer is a fit you have already seen and approved on your own body.
Off-the-rack blazers never sit right on my shoulders. Will this actually fix that?
Yes, directly. The shoulder is the one line that ruins most ready-made jackets and the hardest to alter afterwards, which is why we cut it precisely to you and confirm it on the test garment first. A blazer that sits clean on the shoulder is the whole difference between a jacket you wear constantly and one you avoid.
I am nervous I will measure myself wrong.
You do not have to be exact. Our guide walks you through each measurement, a friend or a local tailor can help, and if you are unsure you can send your best numbers. The free test garment is there to catch anything slightly off, we see the fit on your body and adjust, so a first-try measurement is completely normal.
Will I actually get a lot of use out of it, or is this an occasional piece?
A well-fitting blazer is the most-worn tailored thing most men own, because it goes with almost everything. Over jeans, over chinos, with or without a tie, it carries you from work to dinner to a weekend event. Because it is cut to you and built properly, it stays comfortable and sharp through all of it, so it earns its place many times over.
It is a real investment. Will I still love it in a few years?
That is exactly what it is made for. We cut a timeless line rather than a trend, in quality cloth with generous seam allowances, so it holds its shape and can be adjusted as you change. Most men find the blazer becomes their default jacket, the one they trust for anything, and five years on it still feels like theirs. You are meant to own it and enjoy it, not replace it.
What if it arrives and something is still not right?
The final blazer is cut to the exact fit you approved on the test garment, so surprises are rare by design. If a small tweak is ever needed, the finished jacket carries seam allowances so a local tailor can fine-tune it, and you can always contact us and we will help make it right.
What if my weight changes later on?
Your finished blazer is made with seam allowances, so a local tailor can take it in or let it out within reason if your shape shifts. And we keep your measurements on record, so ordering another piece that fits is simple whenever you want one.
