How do I measure my bust, waist and length for a custom garment?
Use a flexible tape. For the bust, wrap it around the fullest part with the tape level. For the waist, measure the narrowest part, usually just above the belly button. For length, measure from the shoulder or natural waist down to your desired hem. Keep the tape level and snug with room for one finger, and measure over close-fitting clothing rather than bulky layers.
How do I measure my waist, hips, thighs and rise?
Measure the waist at the narrowest point, the hips around the widest part of your hips and seat, and the thigh around the fullest part of the upper leg. Any local tailor or seamstress can take your measurements in a few minutes, and many fabric or bridal shops offer measuring too. You can also measure yourself at home with a flexible tape using this guide, or have a friend help with the back and shoulder measurements. Because we send a free test garment before cutting your final cloth, the fit is confirmed on your body regardless of who takes the first measurements.
What do I need to measure myself?
Just a flexible measuring tape, a mirror, and ideally a friend to help with the shoulder and back measurements. Wear close-fitting clothing so the tape sits against your body, and stand naturally with your weight even on both feet.
How tight should the measuring tape be?
Snug but not tight. The tape should sit flat against your body with just enough room to slip one finger underneath. Pulling it too tight gives measurements that are too small, and leaving it loose makes the garment baggy.
What if my measurements are not perfect?
That is exactly why we send a free test garment. Give us your best measurements, and we build a test version in a stand-in cloth to your numbers and ship it to you. You try it on, we adjust from there, and nothing is cut in your final fabric until the fit is confirmed.

The Thirteenth Doctor’s trousers are recognized by three things before anything else: a tall, high waistband, a cropped leg that stops at mid-calf, and a deep turn-up at the hem. Get those three right and the look reads instantly, at a convention or on an ordinary day out.
This is Baron Boutique’s own version, recreated from screen references and made to your measurements in a teal mohair and wool blend, with a 2-inch waistband, 2-inch turn-ups and a relaxed straight leg. Trousers never fit my waist and my hips at the same time. Am I just an awkward shape?

My trousers always gape at the back waist. Will this fix it?

I have never bought trousers I could not try on first. How do I know they will fit?
Because you do try them on first. We make a free test pair in a stand-in cloth to your measurements and post it to you. You put them on, sit down, walk, check the waist, rise, hips, and length, and send us notes and photos. Only once you are happy do we cut your final fabric, so the finished trousers are a fit you have already approved.
I am between sizes and always end up altering everything. Will this be any different?

What if they arrive and something is still not right?
The final pair is cut to the exact fit you approved on the test garment, so surprises are rare by design. If a small tweak is ever needed, the finished trousers carry seam allowances at the waist and seat so a local tailor can fine-tune them, and you can always contact us and we will help make it right.
It feels like a lot for a pair of trousers made just for me. What is my safety net?
Nothing final is cut until you have approved the fit on the free test garment, so you are not gambling on a pair you have never seen on your body.
