How do I measure my bust, waist and length for a custom garment?
Use a flexible tape. For the bust, wrap it around the fullest part with the tape level. For the waist, measure the narrowest part, usually just above the belly button. For length, measure from the shoulder or natural waist down to your desired hem. Keep the tape level and snug with room for one finger, and measure over close-fitting clothing rather than bulky layers.

What do I need to measure myself?

How tight should the measuring tape be?
Snug but not tight. The tape should sit flat against your body with just enough room to slip one finger underneath. Pulling it too tight gives measurements that are too small, and leaving it loose makes the garment baggy.
What if my measurements are not perfect?
That is exactly why we send a free test garment. Give us your best measurements, and we build a test version in a stand-in cloth to your numbers and ship it to you. You try it on, we adjust from there, and nothing is cut in your final fabric until the fit is confirmed.

These are a wide leg trouser, not a palazzo. The front is flat, the waistband has belt loops, and a pressed crease runs down each leg. From the seat, the leg falls wide and straight to a hem that nearly touches the floor, so the linen moves when you walk and still looks like tailoring when you stand.

Lined to the Knee
Why These Linen Pants Are Lined to the Knee
Most linen pants are unlined, and for a slim cut that is right. A wide leg is different: there is more cloth, it moves more, and it is often made in pale colors. A lining in the front of each leg, from the waist to just below the knee, fixes three common complaints.
No show-through at the front
Natural, Off White, White and the pale linens stay opaque across the front and thighs, where it matters, even in bright sun.
The leg swings, not clings
Linen can catch on bare legs. The smooth lining lets the wide leg slide and swing as you walk.
Support where you sit
The lining backs the linen across the lap and knees, where it takes the most strain, and helps it keep its shape through the day.
The lower leg and the back are left unlined, so the pants stay light and cool. How Wide, and How Long?
A wide leg looks right or wrong mostly because of two things: the width at the hem and the length. Both are set to you, and you check both on the free test pair.

Only once you are happy do we cut your final fabric, so the finished trousers are a fit you have already approved.
I am between sizes and always end up altering everything. Will this be any different?

You do not have to be exact. Our guide walks you through each measurement, a friend or a local tailor can help, and if you are unsure you can send your best numbers. What if they arrive and something is still not right?
The final pair is cut to the exact fit you approved on the test garment, so surprises are rare by design. If a small tweak is ever needed, the finished trousers carry seam allowances at the waist and seat so a local tailor can fine-tune them, and you can always contact us and we will help make it right.
It feels like a lot for a pair of trousers made just for me. What is my safety net?
Nothing final is cut until you have approved the fit on the free test garment, so you are not gambling on a pair you have never seen on your body. And trousers that finally fit your waist and hips get worn constantly, so they tend to cost far less per wear than the ill-fitting pairs that never leave the wardrobe.
What if my weight changes later?
