Follow these simple steps to ensure your custom garment fits you perfectly. All you need is a flexible measuring tape.
Measure across your back from the edge of one shoulder to the edge of the other, keeping the tape flat.
Measure from the edge of your shoulder, along the outside of your relaxed arm, to your desired sleeve length.
Measure around the armhole where the sleeve joins the body. Pass the tape from the top of the shoulder, under the armpit, and back to the starting point. Keep the tape comfortably snug. Measure over a lightweight shirt or close-fitting clothing, keeping your arm relaxed at your side.
With muscles relaxed, measure around the fullest part of your upper arm. Keep the tape snug with room for one finger.
Wrap the measuring tape around your wrist bone, where a watch would sit. Keep the tape snug but not tight. Leave room for one finger between the tape and your wrist for comfort
Measure from the highest point of the shoulder, next to the neck, over the fullest part of the bust, and straight down to your desired dress hem. Continue measuring to the finished length of the dress you wish to order, whether it’s a mini, knee-length, midi, maxi, or floor-length dress.
Measure around the base of your neck where a collar would sit, keeping the tape level with room for one finger.

Women’s Measuring Guide
All you need is a flexible measuring tape, a mirror, and ideally a friend to help with the shoulder and back measurements. Wear close-fitting clothing so the tape sits against your body, stand naturally with your weight even on both feet, and keep the tape level and snug with room for one finger. Below is every measurement we may ask for. You do not have to get each number perfect: we send a free test garment before cutting your final cloth, so the fit is confirmed on your body first.
Stand straight with your arms relaxed and wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, keeping it level and snug with room for one finger.
Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, usually just above the belly button, keeping the tape level with room for one finger.
Measure around the area where you normally wear your trousers or skirts, keeping the tape level with room for one finger.
Stand with your feet together and measure around the widest part of your hips and seat, keeping the tape level.
Measure around the fullest part of your upper thigh, keeping the tape snug with room for one finger.
Sit down and measure from your natural waist at the front, down between your legs to the seat, to capture the rise for trousers.
Measure from the highest point of the crotch down the inside of your leg to the same hem point used for the trouser length measurement.
Measure from the top of your waistband down the outside of your leg to the point where you want the trouser hem to finish.

Before we cut your chosen cloth, we make a test version of your garment in cotton, cut from the same pattern, and send it to you free. You try it on and tell us what to change. Only after you approve the fit do we make the final piece. The test garment is yours to keep.

Many cobalt blue dresses on sale are made in stretch crepe, polyester or satin, because a bright color sells on its own. The cloth is left to do nothing, and it shows: the color looks flat, the dress clings at the hip, and the hem of a mini creeps up every time you sit.
This tailored mini dress is cut to your measurements in Super 140s worsted wool and fully lined, in the cobalt blue in the photos or another color from the selector. It has a round neck, elbow-length sleeves, a center front seam and a seam across the high waist, and a skirt that eases out slightly to a hem above the knee. Free Test Dress
A mini dress has less fabric to hide a fitting error, so the test dress matters more than usual. We check that the high waist seam sits just under the bust rather than across it, that the skirt has enough room at the seat to stay put when you sit, and that the sleeves end at the elbow without pulling when you reach forward.
We also look at the balance of the whole dress: on a shorter figure, the hem and the sleeve length work together, and moving one by an inch often fixes the proportion of the other.
