Yes. The coat draws from the long, wide-lapelled silhouette worn by Redmayne as Newt Scamander across the film series, reimagined in authentic British herringbone tweed with genuine leather pocket accents. The fabric and leather details are our own interpretation of the Edwardian British adventurer aesthetic the screen wardrobe draws from.
Why herringbone tweed instead of the blue-green wool from the film?
The screen coat is a distinctive teal blue wool. We chose British herringbone tweed for our version because it is truer to the Edwardian British outerwear tradition the character’s wardrobe references, and because it wears as serious everyday outerwear rather than a theatrical piece. Herringbone tweed in overcoat weight is a garment you can wear to dinner, to work, or to a convention. The teal screen color reads as costume outside a specific context.
