All you need is a flexible measuring tape, a mirror, and ideally a friend to help with the shoulder and back measurements. Wear close-fitting clothing so the tape sits against your body, stand naturally with your weight even on both feet, and keep the tape level and snug with room for one finger. Below is every measurement we may ask for. You do not have to get each number perfect: we send a free test garment before cutting your final cloth, so the fit is confirmed on your body first.

How do I measure my bust, waist and length for a custom garment?

What do I need to measure myself?

How tight should the measuring tape be?
Snug but not tight. The tape should sit flat against your body with just enough room to slip one finger underneath. Pulling it too tight gives measurements that are too small, and leaving it loose makes the garment baggy.

These are proper trousers in 100% linen: a flat front, a zip fly with a button closure, belt loops, slanted front pockets and two welt back pockets, with a straight leg that falls clean from the seat to the hem.

Tailored, Not Beachy
What Makes Linen Trousers Look Tailored
Linen has almost no stretch and no spring, so it shows every fitting mistake. Too tight and it pulls into creases across the lap; too loose and it collapses into folds. Three things keep these trousers looking intentional.
A straight leg
The leg keeps the same width from the knee to the hem, so the linen hangs in a clean column. It is narrower than a wide leg, so there is less cloth to crumple, and it takes a pressed crease well.
Real trouser details
A 1.5-inch waistband with five belt loops, a flat front, slanted front pockets and two single-welt back pockets. The inside of the waistband has a grip lining that keeps a shirt or blouse tucked in.

We cut the waist, seat, thigh and length to your body, with enough ease to sit comfortably. Where linen is not strained, it creases softly instead of in hard lines.
Linen Wrinkles
Will Linen Trousers Wrinkle? Yes, and Here Is How to Live With It
Every 100% linen wrinkles. It is the same property that makes it cool: the flax fiber is stiff and does not spring back. We will not promise wrinkle-free linen, but you can keep straight leg linen trousers looking neat through the day.
- A good fit matters most. Creases are softest where the cloth is not pulled tight, which is why the free test pair checks the seat and thigh when you sit.
- Textured shades hide creases more. Grey, Charcoal, Blue and Herringbone Natural have a mixed yarn that breaks up the lines.
- Hang the trousers by the waistband or hem as soon as you take them off; most sitting creases drop out overnight.
- Steam, or iron while the linen is still slightly damp, on the linen setting. A pressed front crease holds the straight line longer.
Show-Through
Are White Linen Trousers See-Through?
Linen is woven with a little air between the yarns, which is why it is cool. In the lighter colors, that can mean some show-through in bright sun. You have two simple options.

Trousers never fit my waist and my hips at the same time. Am I just an awkward shape?
You are not, ready-to-wear is the problem, not your body. Off-the-rack trousers are cut to one fixed waist-to-hip ratio, so if yours is different, either the waist gapes or the hips pull, no matter which size you buy. We cut your waist and your hip independently to your own measurements, so both fit at once, and the free test garment proves it on your body before the final pair is made. My trousers always gape at the back waist. Will this fix it?
Yes, directly. Back-gape is the classic sign of a waist cut too big relative to your hips. Because we cut the waistband to your actual waist, it sits flat against your back with no gap, even when you sit down, and you confirm exactly that on the free test garment before we cut your final cloth.
I have never bought trousers I could not try on first. How do I know they will fit?
Because you do try them on first. We make a free test pair in a stand-in cloth to your measurements and post it to you. You put them on, sit down, walk, check the waist, rise, hips, and length, and send us notes and photos. Only once you are happy do we cut your final fabric, so the finished trousers are a fit you have already approved.
I am between sizes and always end up altering everything. Will this be any different?

You do not have to be exact. Our guide walks you through each measurement, a friend or a local tailor can help, and if you are unsure you can send your best numbers. What if they arrive and something is still not right?
The final pair is cut to the exact fit you approved on the test garment, so surprises are rare by design. If a small tweak is ever needed, the finished trousers carry seam allowances at the waist and seat so a local tailor can fine-tune them, and you can always contact us and we will help make it right.
It feels like a lot for a pair of trousers made just for me. What is my safety net?
Nothing final is cut until you have approved the fit on the free test garment, so you are not gambling on a pair you have never seen on your body. And trousers that finally fit your waist and hips get worn constantly, so they tend to cost far less per wear than the ill-fitting pairs that never leave the wardrobe.
What if my weight changes later?
