Follow these simple steps to ensure your custom garment fits you perfectly. All you need is a flexible measuring tape.
Measure across your back from the edge of one shoulder to the edge of the other, keeping the tape flat.
Measure from the edge of your shoulder, along the outside of your relaxed arm, to your desired sleeve length.
Measure around the armhole where the sleeve joins the body. Pass the tape from the top of the shoulder, under the armpit, and back to the starting point. Keep the tape comfortably snug. Measure over a lightweight shirt or close-fitting clothing, keeping your arm relaxed at your side.
With muscles relaxed, measure around the fullest part of your upper arm. Keep the tape snug with room for one finger.
Wrap the measuring tape around your wrist bone, where a watch would sit. Keep the tape snug but not tight. Leave room for one finger between the tape and your wrist for comfort
Measure from the highest point of the shoulder, next to the neck, over the fullest part of the bust, and straight down to your desired garment length. Continue to the desired hem for the garment you are ordering, whether it’s a shirt, jacket, blazer, coat, or full-length coat.
Measure around the base of your neck where a collar would sit, keeping the tape level with room for one finger.
Stand straight with your arms relaxed. Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, keeping it level and snug with room for a finger.
Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, typically above the belly button. Keep the tape level with room for one finger.
Stand with your feet together and measure around the widest part of your hips and seat. Keep the tape level with room for one finger.
Measure around your waist where you normally wear the waistband of your pants or skirts. Keep the tape level with room for one finger.
Measure around the fullest part of your upper thigh, keeping the tape snug with room for one finger.
Measure around your ankle or the width of the trouser hem on a well-fitting pair of pants (flat, across x2).
Measure from the top of your waistband down the outside of your leg to the point where you want the trouser hem to finish.
Measure from the highest point of the crotch down the inside of your leg to the same hem point used for the trouser length measurement.
Women’s Measuring Guide
All you need is a flexible measuring tape, a mirror, and ideally a friend to help with the shoulder and back measurements. Wear close-fitting clothing so the tape sits against your body, stand naturally with your weight even on both feet, and keep the tape level and snug with room for one finger. Below is every measurement we may ask for. You do not have to get each number perfect: we send a free test garment before cutting your final cloth, so the fit is confirmed on your body first.
Stand straight with your arms relaxed and wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, keeping it level and snug with room for one finger.
Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, usually just above the belly button, keeping the tape level with room for one finger.
Measure around the area where you normally wear your trousers or skirts, keeping the tape level with room for one finger.

The Tuxedo
Most tuxedos for women are rented for a night or bought as a sixty to three hundred dollar set: a black jacket with a strip of polyester satin on the lapel and stretch trousers. Look at a men’s dinner jacket from a tailoring house and the difference is in the details, and those details are what this women’s bespoke tuxedo keeps.
It is menswear-inspired in its construction, not cut like a man’s jacket: wide wing peak lapels faced in silk satin, satin-covered flaps and buttons, roped shoulders and trousers with buckle side adjusters, all built on a woman’s measurements from a Super 130s cloth of 98% merino wool and 2% cashmere. Free Test Suit
A tuxedo with roped shoulders and four to five inch lapels shows its fit at the top. Few people have the same shape at the front and back of the shoulder, and the wider the lapel, the more any pull across the bust bends it out of line. These are the points we correct most often on a women’s test suit, along with the waist suppression, and the buttons are kept close enough to stop the front gaping when you sit.
Some corrections would change the look, such as an extra dart beside the satin lapel. When that happens we explain the trade-off and you decide whether the tuxedo follows your body exactly or the style in the photos exactly.

In our experience the cheaper tuxedos we are asked to replace fail in the same order: the cloth goes shiny and loses its color, then the front collapses because nothing holds it. A canvas front and a merino cloth are why this one keeps its shape.
