Follow these simple steps to ensure your custom garment fits you perfectly. All you need is a flexible measuring tape.
Measure across your back from the edge of one shoulder to the edge of the other, keeping the tape flat.
Measure from the edge of your shoulder, along the outside of your relaxed arm, to your desired sleeve length.
Measure around the armhole where the sleeve joins the body. Pass the tape from the top of the shoulder, under the armpit, and back to the starting point. Keep the tape comfortably snug. Measure over a lightweight shirt or close-fitting clothing, keeping your arm relaxed at your side.
With muscles relaxed, measure around the fullest part of your upper arm. Keep the tape snug with room for one finger.
Wrap the measuring tape around your wrist bone, where a watch would sit. Keep the tape snug but not tight. Leave room for one finger between the tape and your wrist for comfort
Measure from the highest point of the shoulder, next to the neck, over the fullest part of the bust, and straight down to your desired dress hem. Continue measuring to the finished length of the dress you wish to order, whether it’s a mini, knee-length, midi, maxi, or floor-length dress.
Measure around the base of your neck where a collar would sit, keeping the tape level with room for one finger.

All you need is a flexible measuring tape, a mirror, and ideally a friend to help with the shoulder and back measurements. Wear close-fitting clothing so the tape sits against your body, stand naturally with your weight even on both feet, and keep the tape level and snug with room for one finger. Below is every measurement we may ask for. You do not have to get each number perfect: we send a free test garment before cutting your final cloth, so the fit is confirmed on your body first.
Stand straight with your arms relaxed and wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, keeping it level and snug with room for one finger.
Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, usually just above the belly button, keeping the tape level with room for one finger.

Before we cut your chosen cloth, we make a test version of your garment in cotton, cut from the same pattern, and send it to you free. You try it on and tell us what to change. Only after you approve the fit do we make the final piece. The test garment is yours to keep.

A belt cannot rescue a shift dress that is too big. Pull it tight and the spare cloth gathers into folds above and below it, the pockets swing forward, and the dress looks borrowed. The belt only works when the dress underneath is already the right size, with just enough ease to hang straight.

Free Test Dress
A shift is measured as much by the room it leaves as by the size. Too little ease and it becomes a tight sheath that pulls across the hips; too much and the belt gathers it into folds. The usual changes on a test shift are at the bust and hips: taking out fullness at the side seams where the hip is smaller than the bust, or adding room at the back hip so the hem stays level.

Belted dress waist definition depends on where the belt sits. A belt placed even an inch above or below your waist makes the body look shorter or longer than it is, which is why the loops are set from your measurements, not from a size chart.
