## Summary

Every Graves coat online is a costume set, cotton, polyester, a size chart, and a shawl collar that approximates the shape. This is the coat. Made in Super 140s worsted wool to your exact measurements, with the princess seam back and vented wide sleeve cuffs that make the silhouette recognizable. Before we cut the final coat, we send you a free test coat to confirm the fit including how it layers over a suit jacket, the way Graves wears it.

Every Graves Coat Online Is a Costume. This One Is a Coat.
Search for Percival Graves coats and you will find the same thing everywhere: a cotton-polyester blend sewn in a week, packaged with a vest, a tie, a scarf, and a size chart. It looks like the coat in the thumbnail. On the body, it drapes like a bathrobe. The princess seams that give Graves his silhouette that long, flared skirt, that swept-back authority cannot be achieved in cotton. The fabric has no memory. It hangs. The reason the Graves coat commands a scene is construction. Colleen Atwood built it with structure: a deep shawl collar that sits with weight, wide vented cuffs that move deliberately, princess seams that flare from the back. The silhouette is specific.

The Silhouette Has to Be Right. The Test Coat Makes Sure It Is.
This coat's silhouette is its whole identity. The width of the shawl collar, the break point of the flare, the length and pitch of the sleeve, these are what make it recognizable. A centimeter off in the wrong direction and it becomes a generic black coat. Before we cut your final coat in Super 140s wool, we make a test coat in the same construction and send it to you first. Try it on over a suit jacket, the way Graves wears it. Check the shawl collar height against your own neck. Check that the back sits flat and the flare starts at the right point. Send us your notes and we adjust before the real fabric is cut. No guesswork. No surprises on delivery. The test coat is yours to keep.

Not Everyone Needs a Bespoke Replica. But Some People Really Do.
- The convention regular who has tried the alternatives: You have ordered a Graves coat before. It arrived looking fine in photos. On the body it was cotton-stiff, too short, or wrong through the shoulders. You wore it once.
- The collector who wants one version, correct, in the wardrobe permanently: You are not cosplaying. You want the Graves coat because the design is exceptional and you plan to wear it. You need it in proper wool so it behaves like outerwear, not a Halloween costume.
- The detail-obsessed person who has done the reference work: You know what the princess seams are supposed to do. You have paused the film to check the shawl collar width. You know the sleeve cuffs vent.
- The person who did not know they wanted a wizard coat until now: You have never thought about cosplay. But you have always wanted a long black coat with real presence, something that reads as intentional and powerful, not theatrical.

## Questions & Answers

**Q:** The cotton-polyester coats I've seen are much cheaper. What's the actual difference in wear?
**A:** Cotton and polyester blends don't hold a tailored shape. The princess seam back that gives Graves his silhouette works because wool has memory, it drapes with weight and recovers its form. A cotton version of the same construction will look right on a hanger and wrong on a body within an hour of wear. If you are going to have this coat, you want it to look like the coat.

**Q:** I want to wear this over a suit. Will the fit work for that?
**A:** Yes, this is specifically what the test coat is for. Graves wears his coat over a suit in the film, and that layering needs to be accounted for in the measurements. When you try on your test coat, we ask you to test it over whatever you plan to wear beneath it. We build in the right amount of ease for the shoulders and chest before cutting the final coat. The armholes are also hand-stitched and ample enough for layered movement.

**Q:** Can I get this in a color other than black?
**A:** Yes. The coat is available in 12 wool colors including charcoal, navy, grey, tan, blue, brown, white, and others. The lining is available in 34 colors. Black with white acetate is the screen-accurate combination, but the silhouette works in any color. Price does not vary by fabric color or lining choice.

**Q:** Can I specify a custom coat length?
**A:** Yes. You can specify your preferred coat length through the measurement section during checkout. If you are unsure, the test coat is a good opportunity to assess whether you want any length adjustment before the final coat is made.

**Q:** How long does the process take?
**A:** From order to delivery of the final coat, allow approximately 3-4 weeks. This includes production of the test coat, shipping it to you, any adjustments, and production of the final coat. We ship the test coat and final coat by trackable courier to any country.

**Q:** Do you ship internationally?
**A:** Yes. We ship worldwide by trackable courier. Both the test coat and the final coat are shipped to your address regardless of location.

**Q:** I've never done bespoke tailoring before. Is the measurement process complicated?
**A:** No. You enter your measurements on this product page. A guide walks you through each measurement with clear instructions, you just need a flexible measuring tape. If the measurements you provide are off, the test coat will show exactly where, and we correct it before cutting the final coat. That is the whole point of the test garment process.

**Q:** Is this coat wearable outside of cosplay or conventions?
**A:** Yes. The Graves coat is, structurally, a formal long coat with a shawl collar and flared back. Made in wool at suit quality, it wears as outerwear for dinners, events, or everyday use. You do not need a convention or a character reference to justify it. Several customers order it specifically as a statement outerwear piece that happens to be screen-inspired.

**Q:** What is a canvas front and why does it matter for this coat?
**A:** A canvas front is a layer of woven horsehair canvas stitched into the body of the coat between the outer fabric and lining. It gives the front structure and allows the coat to conform to your body over time. The alternative is a fused front, two layers glued together. Fused fronts eventually separate, bubble after cleaning, and can never be pressed flat. Canvas front coats hold their shape through years of wear. For a coat this specific in its silhouette, it matters.
