# Vests

Made-to-order waistcoats in wool, linen, and velvet, cut to the wearer's measurements to complete a three-piece suit or to wear alone.

All garments are made to order by [Baron Boutique](https://baronboutique.com/okf/company.md). Every bespoke order includes a complimentary cotton test garment shipped before the final fabric is cut.

The Waistcoat Is the Most Overlooked Piece of Tailoring, and the One That Elevates an Outfit Most
A waistcoat does two jobs. It turns a two-piece suit into a three-piece, adding formality, warmth, and a layered, considered look that photographs well at weddings and formal events. And on its own, over a shirt, it is a sharp, distinctive layer that reads as far more deliberate than a jumper or a cardigan. It is also the piece most often ruined by a poor fit, because a waistcoat that gaps at the buttons, rides up over the trouser waistband, or pulls across the back looks worse than no waistcoat at all.

How to choose your waistcoat
- The Worsted Wool Waistcoat: A year-round waistcoat in worsted wool, made to your measurements, with a welt-pocket front, adjustable back strap, and a clean five-button closure.
- The Linen Waistcoat: A breathable linen waistcoat made to your measurements for summer weddings, garden parties, and warm-weather tailoring.
- Make It a Three-Piece: A waistcoat is the simplest way to turn a suit into a three-piece, adding formality and a tailored, layered line.
- Wedding & Formal: A waistcoat sharpens a groom or groomsman’s look and photographs beautifully under a jacket or worn with sleeves rolled at the reception.

Choose your cloth and details
Pick worsted wool or linen, then your button count, lapel or no lapel, and lining on the product page, and enter your measurements there. No appointment needed.

We send a free test garment
Before any final cloth is cut, we build a test waistcoat in a low-cost fabric to your measurements and ship it to your home by trackable courier.

You confirm the fit at home
Try it on and check that the front closes flat, the length covers the waistband, and the back sits clean, then send your notes. Nothing is cut in your final cloth until the fit is confirmed.

We cut and finish your waistcoat
Every adjustment is applied, then your waistcoat is cut and hand-finished with welt pockets, an adjustable back strap, and hand-stitched buttonholes.

It ships worldwide with tracking
Your finished waistcoat ships from Dubai by trackable courier, about four to six weeks from measurement confirmation including the test-garment stage. The test garment is yours to keep.

## Questions & Answers

**Q:** What is the difference between a waistcoat and a vest?
**A:** They are the same garment: waistcoat is the British term and vest is the American term for the sleeveless, buttoned layer worn over a shirt and under a jacket. Both refer to the tailored front piece with a structured, lined front and often an adjustable strap at the back, as distinct from a knitted sweater vest. Everything in this collection is a tailored waistcoat, made to your measurements.

**Q:** How should a waistcoat fit?
**A:** A waistcoat should close comfortably at the front without the buttons straining or the fabric gaping between them, and it should be long enough to cover the trouser waistband completely, with no strip of shirt showing between the bottom of the waistcoat and the top of the trousers. The back should sit flat, adjusted with the rear strap for a clean line. Because fit at the front and length are the two things a waistcoat gets wrong most often, ours is made to your measurements and confirmed on a free test garment before the cloth is cut.

**Q:** Should the bottom button of a waistcoat be left undone?
**A:** By tradition, yes, the bottom button of a waistcoat is left open. The convention dates back to waistcoats cut with the bottom button positioned so it naturally sits open for ease of movement, and it has become the accepted way to wear one. Leaving it undone also lets the waistcoat sit more comfortably when you sit down. It is a small detail, but it is one of the quiet signals that someone knows how tailoring is worn.

**Q:** Can I add a matching waistcoat to a suit to make it a three-piece?
**A:** Yes. A waistcoat is the standard way to turn a two-piece suit into a three-piece, and because it is made to your measurements in the same cloth, it matches the suit exactly rather than being a close approximation. Order the waistcoat alongside a suit from the Suits & Blazers collection, or add one to a wedding suit. A three-piece adds formality and warmth and gives you the option of removing the jacket while still looking dressed.

**Q:** Worsted wool or linen, which should I choose?
**A:** Choose worsted wool for a year-round, formal waistcoat that works as the third piece of a suit and holds a crisp line in any season. Choose linen for summer weddings, garden parties, and hot climates, where its breathability keeps you cool and its relaxed texture suits a lighter, warm-weather look. If you want a waistcoat mainly for formal three-piece wear, wool is the safer default; if it is for a summer event, linen is the better fit.

**Q:** Can I wear a waistcoat without a jacket?
**A:** Yes, and it is one of the most useful ways to wear one. A well-fitted waistcoat over a dress shirt, with or without a tie, reads as intentional and sharp, and at a wedding or event it lets the groom or guests remove their jackets at the reception while still looking tailored. Because the waistcoat is made to your measurements, it holds its shape and line without a jacket over it, which is exactly where a poorly fitted, off-the-rack waistcoat falls apart.

**Q:** Are the waistcoats made to my measurements?
**A:** Yes. Both waistcoats are made to your measurements with no standard sizes. You enter your measurements on the product page, and before we cut your final cloth we send a free test garment so the fit is confirmed on your body first. This matters more on a waistcoat than most people expect, because the close fit at the front and the exact length over the waistband are what separate a sharp waistcoat from a poor one.

**Q:** How do I care for the waistcoat?
**A:** Both the worsted wool and linen waistcoats are best dry cleaned to preserve the structure of the lined front and the shape of the cloth. Between wears, hang the waistcoat on a hanger rather than folding it, so the front keeps its line. Linen will relax and soften with wear, which is part of its character; a light press restores a crisp look for an event.

**Q:** How long does it take, and do you ship worldwide?
**A:** Production is about four to six weeks from the point your measurements are confirmed, including the free test-garment stage, and we ship worldwide from Dubai by trackable courier. For a wedding or event, order at least 8 to 10 weeks ahead so there is comfortable time for the test garment and any adjustments. If your date is sooner, contact us before ordering and we will confirm whether the timeline works.
