Most “Cashmere” Is Blended, Machine-Made, or Mislabeled. Ours Is None of Those.
The word cashmere is one of the most abused labels in fashion. A great deal of what is sold as cashmere is blended with wool, viscose, or acrylic, spun and woven by machine, and finished to feel soft in the shop for exactly as long as it takes to get it home. Within a season it pills, thins, and loses the warmth that made it worth buying. Genuine cashmere behaves the opposite way: it gets softer with every wash, holds its warmth for decades, and reads as quiet luxury rather than costume.

Grade A fiber, sourced at altitude
The cashmere is combed by hand in spring from goats living above 14,000 feet on the Tibetan Plateau and Himalayan highlands, where the cold produces an undercoat fine enough that it cannot be machine-harvested without breaking.

Hand-spun, never machine-spun
The delicate staple is hand-spun into yarn. Machine spinning breaks the fiber, so the traditional method is what preserves the softness, warmth, and longevity that separate real cashmere from a blend.

Handwoven over five days
Each piece is woven on a traditional handloom over roughly five days. The gentle irregularities in the weave are the mark of the handloom and the proof it was not machine-made.

**Q:** What is Grade A cashmere, and why does it matter?  
**A:** Cashmere is graded on the length and fineness of the fiber. Grade A is the longest and finest, typically measuring 14 to 16 microns in diameter with a long staple, which is what gives it superior warmth without bulk, a soft handle that improves rather than degrades with wear, and strong resistance to pilling. Grade B and C fibers are shorter and coarser, which is why cheaper cashmere feels acceptable at first but pills and thins within a season. **Q:** Is pashmina the same as cashmere?
